With member firms throughout Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, HLB Mann Judd is a leading mid-sized chartered accounting group. That’s jargon for big enough to have all the necessary experience and knowledge yet small enough to work with you on a personal basis.

Project Summary

Specific server infrastructure had become end of life and required upgrading.  The business decided on an opex (ongoing monthly cost) solution to avoid a capex (large upfront cost) solution.  The Managed Infrastructure Service was implemented.

The Strategy

HLB Mann Judd and Focus Networks confirmed nine VLAN configurations.  VMware tools were used to move twenty virtual machines in real time.  Three key stages were completed to guarantee a smooth migration:

• Use checklist to prepare old hosts
• Migrate virtual machines onto new hosts
• Audit then decommission old hosts

Proven Results

The hosts utilise solid state drives and high speed backbones which deliver blistering performance.  Multiple levels of redundancy offer a fault tolerant design.  Of most importance is the ability to replicate virtual machines offsite into a Tier III data centre for disaster recovery purposes.
