Project Summary

Older on premise server infrastructure required upgrading to keep up with expanding business needs. An opex (ongoing monthly cost) solution was more attractive to the business. The Managed Infrastructure Service was implemented.

The Strategy

Focus Networks designed a new tightly controlled network. VMware tools were used to move virtual machines in real time to reduce downtime. Three key stages were completed to guarantee a smooth migration:

 

• Switching for a 10GB backbone
• Migrating 3.5TB of virtual machines
• Test failover on premise for hosts

Proven Results

The hosts utilise solid state drives and high speed backbones which deliver blistering performance.  A fault tolerant design delivers multiple levels of redundancy.  Virtual machines replicate offsite into a Tier III data centre for disaster recovery purposes.
