Disaster Recovery Testing
The Client
A Richards Pty Ltd T/A Richgro is an Australian owned family company founded in 1916. The company’s mission is to offer great products to the consumer garden, horticultural, landscape, turf and agricultural industries with a keen focus on environmental sustainability, whilst remaining committed to a carbon free footprint.
Project Summary
Being heavily reliant on our IT systems, the decision was made to adopt a solution that would minimise our risk profile. Requirements included backup and archive features along with an annual disaster recovery test. The Managed Recovery Service was implemented.
The Strategy
Once the Managed Recovery Service had been implemented, the annual disaster recovery test was scheduled. Richgro were asked to create a “test file” to be used as a validation test. The sandbox process was completed at Focus Networks premises which included morning tea:
- Recovery procedure checklist (9 steps)
- Client application testing (8 steps)
- Recovery notes and client signoff
Proven Results
The annual disaster recovery test was successfully completed within one hour. The “test file” was confirmed which validated the restore process. One minor configuration change was documented relating to customisation on the application server.
